About Us
In a world of “profit at all costs,” one business stands out in the crowd as individual and innovative in its style. LaTiendaUSA, a web-based marketplace offering exquisite pieces of home decor art, places an emphasis on solid business practices in conjunction with an appreciation for the importance of environmental concerns, especially the sustainability and conservation of our natural resources. One of our goals as a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) www.sustainablefurnishings.org is to promote awareness of SFC's commitment to our planet. Members must be dedicated to the principles of sustainability and demonstrate continuous improvement in practices from year to year.
Each of our pieces is handcrafted by a group of master artisans in the Dominican Republic. Ellen Bawcom, president and owner of LaTiendaUSA, is a true believer in the Fair Trade movement and wants the buyer to be aware that producers of the art are protected with fair wages, fair treatment and a safe work environment.
LaTiendaUSA offers handcrafted pieces in Revere architectural copper as well as sustainable mahogany. The natural wood varies in color and grain, and the copper is unfinished to allow the piece to develop a beautiful green patina. Also included in the LaTiendaUSA collection is wrought iron furniture, home accessories, and upscale lighting; all handcrafted with the intricate detail that distinguishes the LaTiendaUSA product line.
